Every artist in the program is here because the work earns it — not the biography, not the exhibition history, not the market position. The work on the wall is what matters. An artist who makes paintings that hold a room at 7 feet is more interesting to us than an artist who can list the right institutions.
The Pacific Northwest is not a regional category. It is a point of view — a way of looking at land, water, light, and material that produces painting and sculpture that belongs in the same conversation as the work being made anywhere. The roster is the argument.
