I build this bouquet the way time builds a wall — layer over layer, roses and lilies emerging from a ground already worn and gilded at its edges. The magenta field behind them is my bold, modern interruption: saturated, unexpected, pressing against the antiqued surface where paint splatters and drips have settled like decades of accumulated memory. Worn surfaces and distressed textures combine to create something soft and familiar, and then that color arrives — gentle old meets dynamic new. Antiqued fresco on birch panel · 24 × 38 × 2 in · 2025
