Marketa Sivek

Painter

Ms. Sivek’s work reflects her childhood in communist Czechoslovakia, where her desire for color emerged amid a grey landscape of propaganda. “Growing up, individualism and creativity were stifled, but I felt rebellious in my pursuit of art,” she says. Her vibrant abstract pieces invite viewers into a sensory experience. After immigrating to the U.S. in 1992, she established herself in Chicago’s Wicker Park and River North galleries, supporting causes like the Gates Foundation. Sivek’s work has appeared on The Rachael Ray Show and in Elle Décor, included in collections at Deloitte and Oprah Winfrey. She creates in her Lakeview studio and recently opened 2936 Contemporary in Lincoln Park.
Lorri Acott

Sculptor

Lorri Acott’s sculptures capture universal dreams and emotions through stylized gestures, reflecting love, hope, empowerment, and peace. Her bronzes are cherished in collections across the U.S. and internationally, eliciting strong emotional responses. Living in Colorado, Lorri channels her creativity into monumental works, with public installations in multiple states, including Iowa and Arizona.

She explains, “Sculpture has become my voice, revealing thoughts from my soul. These pieces resonate with viewers, becoming part of their stories.”

I view my art as a journal, collecting “treasures” like seed pods, shells, and rocks while hiking. These items inspire my creations, reflecting my impressions of nature. I focus on animals to express my fascination, aiming to capture their unique gestures and expressions in clay for bronze. My art conveys beauty and whimsy, enticing viewers to engage with it. I also craft unique animal head sculptures adorned with mosaic patterns made from found objects. These represent camouflage but also showcase my love for color and organic shapes.

Tamera Abate

Tamera Abate is a distinguished and highly respected artist whose work captivates audiences through its intricate use of encaustic, an ancient and time-honored painting technique that has its roots in antiquity. This unique medium involves a meticulous process wherein vibrant pigments are mixed with melted beeswax and resin, creating a richly textured palette that is both versatile and expressive. Once this exquisite composite is prepared, it is skillfully applied to a rigid surface, such as wood or canvas, allowing the artist to explore various forms of expression. After the initial application, the layers are reheated, a crucial step that fuses the pigments and wax together, resulting in a stunning visual depth and a luminous finish that beckons viewers to engage with the artwork on multiple levels. Tamera’s dedication to mastering this technique not only showcases her artistic prowess but also pays homage to the rich history of encaustic painting, bridging the past and present in her creative endeavors.
