Atmosphere - Elemental event

JG Art Gallery + Events invites you to join us during Bainbridge Island’s First Friday opening of our March show. “Atmosphere” is an exploration of the elements and colors of earth and sky, along with other elements of our Pacific Northwest environment, featuring artwork by three of our gallery artists.

Peter Juvonen, of Port Orchard, is a multi-disciplined artist who is nationally recognized for his conceptual styles.  About his work Juvonen says, “I love the process, the element of surprise that almost always brings joy to my heart”

Ericka Wolf, of Seattle, invites the viewer to enter the painting, slow down, unclench and access the soft, blurry consciousness of waking up. She feels the sky is the perfect metaphor for life’s expansiveness: whether open and light or dark and ominous.

Andy McConnell, also of Seattle creates art that has evolved from the dust, muck and din of construction sites.  Scribing trim became carving forms; gluing up counter slabs led to making large, stable carving blanks; finishing blackened steel developed into staining split or carved cedar.

Uplifting Together : New paintings by Sthephanie Hock

Stephanie's paintings exude a charming simplicity, they are characterized by bold and bright colors, simple stylized figures and strong composition. Her artwork celebrates everyday activities and simple gestures and her paintings lends them a sense of unabashed joy.

Not bound by the strictures of her formal training, Stephanie imparts her intuitive vision onto the canvas, frequently capturing home life with children, nature, and local places. Each brushstroke is an homage to shared memories, making every piece a personal narrative as well as a collective memento.

Stephanie's artwork is stylized in a way that's uniquely unpretentious and strikingly direct. The charm of her art is its universal language of the heart and home.

Celebrating The Print Process:  A Group Exhibition

The print processes we are celebrating are limited only by the creativity of the many talented artists we represent. Join us for this vibrant exhibit of traditional and contemporary printing techniques which include etchings, silk screens, mono prints and linocuts by award-winning artists including Lynn Brofsky, Pamela Wachtler, Brian Fisher, Fumi Matsumoto, and others.  Stop by during the opening reception to meet the artists and chat with them about the unique ways they use various processes in the creation of these original works of art.   Join us on February 2nd and meet the artists, enjoy the new collection, have a glass of wine and reconnect with friends. It’s a great time to add a distinctive piece of art to your collection.  Please visit the website www.jgartgallery.com (Formerly JGO Galleries)  and visit the gallery at 176 Winslow Way E.  on  Bainbridge Island.
